We created a space for Black disabled movement workers in response to the rise of fascism with a goal of maintaining the resiliency while developing sustainable ways of continued resistance. Participants developed points of unity and settled on agreements which include 1, 2, or 4 hours of study in between the monthly clinics. We are now extending an invitation to other Black disabled movement workers who are interested in joining. Each clinic will have a combination of study, strategy, and collaboration with the goals of finding ways to sharpen our existing work.

Program Description and Takeaways
For 4 years, PeoplesHub has hosted Community Care Clinics for Chronically Ill and Disabled Movement Folks, a multi-racial space of strategy and peer support. Yet there are unique conditions in which Black disabled people live and navigate the world, which require an approach and understanding that can only happen amongst Black disabled people.
As fascism continues to rise, we want to maintain the resiliency we've always had as a people and develop sustainable ways to continue resisting together.
We invite Black disabled movement workers into this space to connect with one another, develop points of unity of how we can work in movement spaces beyond the clinic, and share skills and resources that are specific to Black disabled communities or that have implications for our larger bodies of work.
Participants will:
- Engage in strategic conversations to sharpen our organizing approaches.
- Study relevant material to respond to our current conditions.
- Share tools, skills, and resources that continue to support black disabled people.
These clinics are designed for…
Black disabled people who are questioning where to spend their energy when faced with ableism and anti-Blackness in movement work, and who can agree on fundamentally shared values such as opposition to the exploitation of the land and one another. We recognize that many of our people may not identify as disabled for valid reasons and still welcome you into the space.
Our understanding of disabled is broad and includes anyone living with illness, pain, chronic conditions or feel like you must work against the "standard" structures or systems to get your mental and physical needs met. If you are questioning whether or not you are included in our understanding of disability, feel free to reach out to Dustin at dustin (at) peopleshub (dot) org for discussion.
Additional Information

Attendance
We ask that registrants commit to attending all 4 sessions if possible.
Accessibility
Access requests, including interpretation and captioners, can be made during registration or by emailing Dustin Gibson at dustin (at) peopleshub (dot) org. Requests for interpreters and captioners that are made less than 48 hours before the event typically are more difficult to meet. We will try and notify you if we cannot secure requested access.
Registration Cost
Free! Though we appreciate donations from those who can afford to do so.
At PeoplesHub we are committed to communication access, radical hospitality, supporting facilitators, and making our offerings financially accessible. This sliding scale allows us to continue offering programs like this one and pay trainers, interpreters, captioners, and other support staff a fair wage for their time and expertise. Like you, those who support our trainings work hard for change in their communities and have often developed the knowledge, skill and gifts that they are offering through many unpaid hours — let's support them to be sustainable in their work and craft!
