Solidarity economy movements are people-powered forces to protect what matters most. They draw on tools and traditions within many lineages, making them accessible to any community, anywhere. Join us to explore what a solidarity economy movement is, how it works, and ways we can stay oriented to movement-building even as we navigate against the tides of capitalism and oppression.

Program Description and Takeaways
Introduction to Solidarity Economy Movements
Solidarity economy movements are people-powered forces to protect what matters most. They draw on tools and traditions within many lineages, making them accessible to any community, anywhere.
Participants will leave with…
- A practical framework for understanding and recognizing solidarity economy movements
- A deeper understanding of the kinds of attitudes and actions needed to build solidarity economy movements
- Inspiration and wisdom from our movement ancestors that can be applied right away
Shared Resources and Shared Vision: Applying Solidarity Economy Principles and Practices
To build a Solidarity Economy, we must reject the myth of scarcity and embrace the possibility of abundance. The dominant culture tells us that there is not enough to go around. We are pitted against each other and compete for scraps while the main course is kept out of our reach.
By practicing the values we wish to see reflected in our culture and society, including sharing resources and planning collectively within our movements, there will be more than enough to go around. Even as we make agreements with more powerful entities like governments and foundations, we support each other to maintain our sovereignty and stay true to our values.
This workshop will focus on the theme of Shared Resources and Shared Vision, sharing examples of principles and practices that a variety of groups have used to develop collective vision, power and abundance. Whether you're in a cooperative, a nonprofit, a community garden, or some other kind of organization, the community-sourced wisdom will support your journey.
Participants will leave with…
- A deeper understanding of the Solidarity Economy Principles and Practices related to Shared Resources and Shared Vision
- Access to a unique tool to guide deeper reflection and internal organizing to support your group's efforts to create Shared Resources and Shared Vision
- Connection to a learning community of others who have committed to these principles
